Ecuador’s national soccer team is the country’s representative team in official soccer competitions. It is known locally as La Tricolor and internationally as La Tri. It is organized by the Ecuadorian Soccer Federation, which is a member of the South American Soccer Confederation (Conmebol).

It has participated in three World Cups, its greatest achievement being the round of 16 in the 2006 World Cup, while at the regional level, it has twice placed fourth in the Copa América between 1959 and 1993. In terms of junior teams, it reached third place in the 2019 U-20 World Cup. It also reached the quarterfinals of the 1995 U-17 World Cup, reached the round of 16 of the 2011 U-17 World Cup and finished fifth in the 2015 U-17 World Cup.

To date, Ecuador has played 564 matches with teams around the world (November 19, 2019) . It has won 164, drawn 134 and lost 248. The national team has scored 612 goals and conceded 817. The first match was against Bolivia’s national team in Bogota on August 8, 1938.
